Grimaldi's Pizzeria
About This Spot
Nestled just beneath the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, Grimaldi's Pizzeria invites you into a warmly lit space where time slows down just enough to savor a truly local moment. Walking through its doors, you’re met with a comforting hum of conversation punctuated by the gentle clatter of plates and the inviting aroma of wood-fired pizza baking in the oven. It’s a lively yet unpretentious atmosphere that feels like a neighborhood gathering place, perfect for both lingering afternoons and evenings that stretch into easy conversation.
The pace here carries the relaxed rhythm of a classic family spot where everyone feels welcome—whether you’ve come in from a stroll across the bridge or are simply seeking the pleasure of a well-crafted meal. The tiled walls and rustic exposed brick offer a nod to Brooklyn’s unvarnished charm, while the busy open kitchen puts the craft on full display. There’s a daily musicality in how the kitchen team weaves together fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and tradition.
What truly defines the experience at Grimaldi’s is the way its menu complements the neighborhood’s character without overwhelming it. Pizzas emerge with perfectly blistered crusts—crispy yet light—with toppings that echo both classic Italian roots and local creativity. It’s not just about the food but the shared moments around the table: splitting a pizza featuring their special blend of sauces, savoring a fresh arugula salad, or finishing with a delicate cannoli that feels like a quiet celebration at the end of the meal.
Even when the space feels bustling, there’s an undeniable warmth in the chaotic energy that pulls people together—whether regulars or wanderers. Conversations flow easily, children’s laughter mixes with the clink of wine glasses, and the steady buzz makes you feel part of a living, breathing Brooklyn story. It’s a place where the simple act of sharing a meal transforms into a meaningful, memorable experience.

We needed to recharge after a three hours walking tour in Brooklyn. As we entered, the inviting warmth of the restaurant. You can't beat the location or the flavor at Grimaldi's Pizzeria under the Brooklyn Bridge. We ordered the 18" split, with additional cost, featuring the signature BROOKLYN BRIDGE (ricotta, sausage, peppers--perfection!) and the beautifully simple MARGHERITA. The split was recommended by the server as we couldn't decide one toppings. The staff was wonderful! It was outstanding! Truly one of the best food experiences we had visiting New York!

Came here after waiting outside to enter another well known pizza joint nearby. At first I was a little concerned that Grimaldis would be a tourist trap at the expense of the food quality but I needn’t have worried. My 16 inch margarita pizza with mushrooms (kept it simple) came out steaming, with a crispy base and fresh tomato source. Can’t say like other reviewers whether it was the best pizza I’ve ever tasted, but it really was delicious. Servers were courteous and atmosphere nice.

Place is a bit crowded. Takes some time to get seated. Pizza quality is good and size is good for group sharing. Must try is the brooklyn bridge, don and pepperoni diavolo.

Great pizza. They allowed us to do half veggie half ‘the don’. It was very good. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas and they had plenty of seating. We got right in at 11:30 am. When we left there was a line around the corner.

Recently, I had the chance to visit this well-known pizzeria under Brooklyn Bridge. I had the best pizza of my life! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, definitely a great spot. However, the service was disappointing. I had to ask for the bill twice and ended up waiting 30 minutes, so in the end, I went to the bar to pay myself. Everything was just too slow. That said, I still recommend this place and will definitely come back but plan your time accordingly!

Great food, long wait. We got there early (about 11:15am on a Monday) and waited 10 minutes to be seated. However, we waited over an hour for our single pizza. Once we got it, the Chef special "The Don" was delicious!!! We also tried the cannoli--with the powdered sugar, it was very sweet! Cost was incredibly reasonable...one of our cheapest restaurants, including fast food. As we left around 12:45pm, the line extended about a half a block out the door.

This place uses Coal brick oven which makes a huge difference. Ended up getting the Margherita Pizza. The dough and crisp was something else. Awesome location too. Can’t go wrong with pizza and the amazing views at Pier 1. Definitely come give this place a try.

Grimaldi’s serves traditional coal-fired brick oven pizza. This is the most famous Grimaldi’s location, right next door to its original location. I tried the Brooklyn Bridge, which comes with roasted red peppers, creamy ricotta, Italian sausage, mozzarella, and a tomato sauce base, and The Don, topped with Italian sausage, meatballs, pepperoni, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. The ricotta on the Brooklyn Bridge wasn’t really my thing, but The Don was delicious. I also had their red sangria, which was very refreshing, and finished off with the Oreo cheesecake for dessert. Highly recommend! They offer three pizza sizes: 12”, 16”, and 18”. We ordered two 18-inch pizzas to share between four people. Even though my friends were pretty hungry, we still ended up with leftovers. In hindsight, two 16-inch pizzas would’ve been the perfect amount. We went on a Saturday around 3 p.m. and waited about 30 minutes outside before being seated, so definitely expect a line if you visit on the weekend.
